This pact solidifies a mutual agreement among individuals across various industries and disciplines to collectively strive for the ethical and beneficial use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). We commit to promoting the common good and upholding robust guardrails concerning ethical considerations, privacy/copyright, and environmental/workforce impacts.

We believe that AI, when developed and deployed responsibly, has the potential to address some of the world's most pressing challenges. To unlock this potential while mitigating risks, we commit to the following principles:

  • Do No Harm: We will prioritize the well-being of individuals and society, ensuring that AI applications do not cause harm; discriminate based on race, gender, ethnicity, social status, disability, or perpetuate biases.
  • Human-Centric Design: We will advocate for and implement AI systems that are designed with human values, needs, and oversight at their core, ensuring that AI serves humanity, not the other way around.
  • Transparency and Explainability: We will strive for transparency in AI systems, making their decision-making processes understandable and explainable to relevant stakeholders, avoiding overly technical jargon when possible.
  • Privacy and Data Protection: We will handle data with the utmost care, respecting individual privacy rights and adhering to robust data protection principles and regulations.
  • Intellectual Property and Copyright Respect: We will respect intellectual property rights and copyright laws in the development and deployment of AI technologies, ensuring fair attribution and preventing unauthorized use of creative works.
  • Workforce Impact Consideration: We will actively consider the impact of AI on the workforce, promoting retraining, upskilling, and equitable transitions for individuals affected by AI-driven automation.
  • Environmental Impact Considerations: We will be conscious of conserving resources when possible to avoid excessive energy consumption and impact on planetary health required by large AI demands.
  • Collaboration and Open Access to Learnings: We will foster a collaborative environment, sharing best practices, research, and insights to advance ethical AI development. We also commit to open access to study results and learnings that contribute to the collective understanding of AI for good.
